Hi there, welcome to our tone of voice doc. This is a brief insight in how we seek to communicate.
Less is more
Letās cut to the chase, thereās a lot of database content. We strive to keep things simple, clear, and short. For those looking to deep-dive on the foundational concepts, weāll link out to comprehensive industry documentation and papers.
Our users are both deep database experts and pragmatic app developers. We donāt want to frustrate either. Therefore, we default tone to simpler explanations but will include advanced topics for power users. If your a Postgres veteran, itāll be easy to skim over the basics and get to the good stuff.
Transparent
Hydra is a startup team of Postgres hackers: we like to tinker. At times, features we think will be amazing, donāt lead to ship-worth products. In the spirit of transparency, weāll let you know what we tried, whatās good, whatās not good, and everything in between.
We all win by being transparent about our learnings and bias towards oversharing. Everyone on the Hydra team is an open source advocate and we like to build in public.
We like to learn
We believe in āLinus's Law,ā named after Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux. The law proclaims, "Given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow.ā If you think we could have taken a better approach, open a github issue or contribute a PR.
Keep it simple
We strive for simple words and clear examples. If you have technical questions chat us on discord.
Why not make it fun?
Make no mistake, weāre serious database engineers- but, this industry needs an antihero who shoots it straight. Tired of the āinnovative digital transformationā and buzzword compliance? Well, Hydra is for youā¦ the database hero-ish you deserve.
